The Ripple transaction cost in USD is calculated by multiplying the base fee of 0.00001 XRP by the current XRP/USD exchange rate. At an XRP price of $1.33, this equals approximately $0.0000133 — a fraction of a cent for any transfer amount.
Unlike traditional bank wire transfers that charge $15–$50 per international payment, Ripple's fee structure remains flat and near-zero regardless of the amount sent. This makes XRP uniquely attractive for high-value cross-border transfers.
The fee-burning mechanism means XRP paid as transaction costs is permanently destroyed rather than paid to validators. This deflationary feature benefits XRP holders over time while keeping transaction costs negligible.
During periods of network congestion, the XRP Ledger's exponential fee escalation mechanism can temporarily raise fees above the base rate. However, even at peak congestion, fees remain far below those of Bitcoin or Ethereum.
